Congress Submission on merger of Equality Authority and Human Rights Commission

24 Nov 2011

Congress has made a submission calling for the merger to be a real renewal of our equality and human rights infrastructure and not just another example of our failed austerity policies. Of particular concern is the exclusion of trade unions from the working group to advise the minister on the merger and the signals that may send in terms of the makeup of any new body. Congress General Secretary David Begg's has called this "a disturbing break from the long established practice of ensuring balanced representation between both social partners". Full submission here
