Pakistan: More Aid Needed as Flood Disaster Affects 17 Million

The International Trade Union Confederation is calling for a major increase in international aid to flood-ravaged Pakistan, as estimates of the number of people affected and damage to homes, buildings and infrastructure continue to increase. The United Nations has warned that the area affected is still growing from the current estimate of 160,000 square kilometres, with some 1.2 million homes destroyed or badly damaged and over 17 million people "significantly affected".
