Exclusive screening of ‘The Jungle of Calais’
7 Feb 2017
Exclusive screening of ‘The Jungle of Calais’, a short documentary produced by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) Global Solidarity Committee during their visit to the Refugee Camp in Calais in September 2016.
This documentary takes on an emotional and challenging topic-and is dedicated to helping foster an informed dialogue on the issue, particularly amongst trade union members. It looks behind the humanitarian situation to the needs, fears and hopes of those seeking a safe haven in Europe. We are really excited to launch this documentary which we hope will be screened by trade unions at local level to create dialogue amongst trade unionists on the role trade unions can play in addressing the needs of those fleeing conflict and persecution.
The screening of the film will take place on Wednesday 8th February from 6.30pm-7.30pm in the Studio 6 of the Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, 5-9 Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
The film will be introduced by Graham Seely of Gansee Films and Joan McCrohan Vice Chair of the ICTU Global Solidarity Committee. Following the screening a short discussion will take place on the current situation of refugees in Europe with representatives from Oxfam Ireland, Amnesty Ireland and the Irish Refugee Council.
Spaces are limited. To reserve your place at the screening please send your RSVP to Yvonne O’ Callaghan on firstname.lastname@example.org.
