Congress urges Support for Health Protests

11 Apr 2005

Congress has urged all affiliate unions to support the campaign against overcrowding in Accident & Emergency, that is organised by the Irish Nurses Organisation (INO).

The nationwide series of protests start tomorrow (Tuesday April 12) at Dublin's Mater Hospital, Mercy Hospital Cork and Roscommon General Hospital. The lunchtime protests will continue until the end of April, targeting almost 20 major hospitals around the country.

Congress General Secretary David has written to all 56 affiliate unions - representing 760,000 people - urging them to "encourage members to join with INO members in the protest. The difficulties in A & E departments are a cause of concern to us all and must be brought forcibly to the attention of government," Mr Begg concluded.
