TEEU Leader Slams Campaign to Lower Wages
9 Jul 2009
The TEEU's Eamon Devoy - fresh from late night talks in the LRC - told delegates today that the electricians' dispute was "part of an employers' campaign to reduce earnings and drive down conditions across all sectors."
Mr Devoy said the dispute was not about a simple wage claim but was "an attack on all workers." He said that the electricians "have to win...and win it for every worker in Ireland. The theme of this conference is Building Solidarity - let me tell you that with the support we have received that Building Solidarity is a reality today."
He thanked delegates and all others for the tremendous support that had been shown for the electricians.
