The Irish Congress of Trade Unions Education Group has welcomed official plans to increase on-site learning activity in the further and higher education sector in the Autumn and the commitment from Government to ensure the process takes place in full accordance with public health guidelines.
In addition, the Congress Education Sector Group said the official plan - A Safe Return - also contains key commitments to ongoing consultation and dialogue with all stakeholders on implementation of the planned measures, over the coming months.
The Congress Education Group is comprised of trade unions with members across the sector, including the TUI, Siptu, IFUT, Forsa, and Unite.
The official plan to increase on-site learning activity in the further and higher education sector from the start of the next academic year was developed over recent weeks by a working group comprising representatives of all key stakeholders in the sector, including trade unions.
The plan was devised on the basis of public health advice from the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tony Holohan, and provides for ongoing consultation with all stakeholders, as the process evolves.
The Congress Group said a number of key measures relevant to the process are the subject of ongoing discussion within the working group and across the sector, most notably the development of an overall policy on Remote Working.
