Mandate to launch low pay report

Mandate trade union, which represents over 44,000 workers in the retail sector, will launch their pay research document Sharing the Benefits of Growth. The event will take place at 11am on Wednesday, 2 July 2008 in Buswell's Hotel, Kildare Street, Dublin 2 in advance of the pay element of the social partnership negotiations getting underway at 3pm on the same day. In preparation for the social partnership wage discussions, Mandate commissioned research from an independent researcher, Camille Loftus. At the launch on Wednesday, Camille Loftus will give a presentation on the findings from her extensive research and provide some suggestions for moving forward in the interests of low paid workers and combating poverty amongst the "working poor". Mandate General Secretary, John Douglas will also give a presentation on the issue of low pay in what is now the largest employment sector in the country, the wholesale and retail sector.
