Network Manager of the Women at Work Skillnet

Applicants are invited to submit proposals to fulfill the contract for Network Manager of the Women at Work Skillnet.

Overview: Women at Work Skillnet was established in 2008 and has rolled out an ambitious training programme primarily in the retail, financial services, communications and healthcare sectors. Women at Work Skillnet has recently secured funding in the new round of Skillnet projects. The newly constituted Skillnet is spearheaded by 6 Trade Union organisations i.e. the Communications Workers' Union (CWU), IBOA - The Finance Union, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU), the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), MANDATE Trade Union and SIPTU. The network is supported by a cross section of employers and policy advisors who are active members of the Steering Group, which meets approximately once per quarter. The network management team is comprised of the Network Manager and representatives from the 6 trade union organisations. Whilst training interventions will take place in a number of regions in Republic of Ireland, the Steering Group and Network Management meetings will be held in Dublin.

Date of Contract: From mid/end May to end December 2010

The Contract will be awarded to an individual or organisation on a contract for services/consultancy basis. The contract will be on a flexible part-time hour's basis and it is envisaged that the individual/organisation will be based in Dublin.

Remuneration: This Skillnet has funding of €20,000 maximum for delivery of the project to end of 2010. Applicants must indicate the amount of time/resources that they are willing to commit to this Skillnet for this fee.

Essential:

Proven capability in
- Project management, including meeting targets, managing a budget and completing other financial management tasks
- Administration and record keeping
- Preparing reports and applications for funding

Strong communications skills and an understanding/experience of working with trade unions.

 

Desirable:

Experience of adult learning, training and accreditation

Familiarity with Skillnets (or similar) processes and requirements

Duties and responsibilities:
The Network Manager will be required to:
- Manage the overall project budget including meeting income and expenditure targets, managing cash flow, fulfilling financial record keeping
- Ensure that the training days/participants targets are met
- Liaise closely and work with the network management team and steering group to achieve project aims
- Plan, schedule training courses (in consultation with management team)
- Liaise with trainers, course designers, evaluators, auditors, consultants as appropriate
- Actively work with the trade union organisations to ensure full capacity on training programmes including unemployed members
- Ensure that trainers fulfil administrative requirements
- Handle and deal with operational/day-to-day queries
- Carry out all administration and record keeping related to training activities e.g. complete the Skillnets SAM processes, collect and input the evaluations etc
- Liaise with Skillnets on all aspects of network activity
- Maintain contact details of training applicants and participants and communicate with them when appropriate
- Administer and co-ordinate procurement e.g. obtaining quotes
- Prepare and administrate all Skillnets claims and other correspondence
- Co-ordinate any certification process requirements
- Organise occasional network events
- Represent Women at Work Skillnet at appropriate events
- Liaise regarding website maintenance
- Service the Steering Group and management committee e.g. produce reports, updates
- Close off fully all Skillnets' project requirements following year end e.g. end of year report etc
- Complete future funding applications
- Organise and execute network activities and any other project management tasks deemed appropriate
