A delegation from the high-profile Colombians for Peace group is in Dublin today (May 22) to meet with representatives of the Government, trade unions and political parties to brief them on their campaign to build a peace process based on inclusive dialogue, in Colombia.
The Colombians for Peace delegation met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Joe Costello and officials from his department, before meeting with the Joint Committee for Foreign Affairs & Trade and representatives of different political parties. They are also scheduled to be formally greeted in the Mansion House by the Lord Mayor, Andrew Montague.
Colombians for Peace is comprised of high-profile figures in Colombian society, including former Presidents, journalists, politicians, and academics. It is supported by human rights organisations and the trade union movement. It has secured the successful release of several FARC hostages and has played an important role in advancing prospects for negotiations as well as managing to engage the international community - particularly in Latin America.
The delegation is made up of Congressman Ivan Cepeda Castro, Dr Carlos Lozano Guillen and Marleny Orjuela. The visit has been organised and hosted by the Justice For Colombia campaign.
