Representatives from the Congress Housing Committee met recently (Oct 11) with Fingal County Council specialist housing committee, as part of the wider Congress campaign on housing. The Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) on Housing comprises elected councillors and specialist Council housing staff and is charged with oversight and development of housing policy in the Fingal area. Similar SPC's exist in most local authority areas and carry out the same function. As part of its campaign, the Congress Housing Committee has sought to meet with a number of local authority SPCs in areas most affected by the crisis, including the four local Dublin local authority areas and major urban centres across the country. Congress expects to meet with a number of further local authority SPCs in the coming weeks.
