The Congress Youth Committee has launched an online guide aimed at informing young workers in Ireland about their rights at work.
Titled Your Rights at Work, the guide is designed as a living document, which will be continuously updated to reflect changes in employment law and workers’ rights. This accessible and practical resource serves as a vital tool for empowering young workers by clearly outlining their entitlements – including their right to join a trade union.
Ronan Sharkey, Youth Committee Chair said,
“This guide is an essential resource for young people across Ireland, as too many enter the workforce without a full understanding of their rights. When young workers know what they’re entitled to, they’re better equipped to demand fair treatment, safe working conditions and decent pay. I commend the Congress Youth Committee for their hard work in bringing this invaluable resource to life.”
Maeve Richardson, vice-chair said,
This guide is not only about educating young workers—it’s a reminder that they can be part of a broader movement that’s working to secure and expand their rights and protections through trade union membership. We hope to see this guide widely distributed across Ireland, helping more young workers to get the support they need.
