Disability Aid Abroad put forward a proposal for new Ugandan Project

Disability Aid Abroad in partnership with the Congress Global Solidarity project and the National Organisation of Trade Unions of Uganda [NOTU] are currently working on a project entitled International Employment Support Programme for Workers with disabilities in Uganda.

The aim of this programme is to increase the employment opportunities of people with disabilities in Uganda and to raise the awareness of disability issues in general.

In many developing countries, disability is seen as a social and cultural stigma and vocational training and employment opportunities are rare. This project seeks to make changes by delivering training to trade union members as 'disability champions', employing people with disabilities in employment support programmes and training disability champions as lead facilitators to enable them develop outreach training programmes among the affiliates of NOTU.

However, the programme urgently needs funds to put these measures in place which will make a significant difference to the lives of men and women in Uganda. Read more about the programme and see what it aims to achieve.
