The Department of Justice has just completed a consultation on the development of a new National Women's Strategy.

Next week (Wednesday 5th February) in Geneva, the UN will examine Ireland on its responsibilities under the Convention on the elimination of discrimination against Women (CEDAW). It will mark the first time in over a decade Ireland has been scrutinised on its compliance with UN standards on protecting women and girls from discrimination.
Congress participated in a Department of Justice and Equality hosted civil society consultation on the State's response to the List of Issues under CEDAW on 19 July 2016. Ireland's Combined sixth and seventh periodic Report to the UN CEDAW Committee and its Annex of statistical data were submitted to the UN on 15 September 2016.
The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission have published a report to assess Ireland's performance on combatting discrimination against women (Thursday 9th February) and will be presenting their findings in Geneva. They will also be hosting a web-streaming of the UN examination of Ireland on Wednesday 15th February from 9am at its offices 16-22 Green Street, Dublin 7.
